About Messaging your Instructor

The Canvas Inbox allows you to easily communicate with your instructor and classmates.

1. 1. Click on 'Inbox' from the Global Navigation menu.
  2. Then, click on the 'Compose a New Message' icon.
  3. Select the course from the dropdown menu.
  4. Type the name of your instructor, or choose teacher(s) from the list.
  5. Add a subject and message, then click the 'Send' button.

Note: Based on the permissions set at your school, you may not be able to send messages to your classmates.

About Viewing and Reading Messages

The Canvas Inbox is where you view messages sent from your instructor and classmates.

1. 1. Select 'Inbox' from the Global Navigation menu.
  2. Click the drop down menu to sort your inbox by a single course.
  3. Click again to change back to All Courses.
  4. Click on an unread message from the list of conversations.

Note: Based on the permissions set at your institution you may not be able to receive messages from your classmates.
